FAQ

Everyone has questions – let’s dig deep for some answers!

What happens to the stuff that you can’t sell or that is unsuitable for putting on sale? We are busy working on answers for you, check back soon!

I’m clearing out Uncle’s estate. Will you take everything? We sell items of good quality such as clothing, bric-a-brac, manchester, shoes, books, DVDs and children’s toys but are unable to accept damaged or soiled goods, electrical goods or anything which has a safety label. We also do not have the space for large items such as furniture.

Do you have paid employees like most other Op Shops? No, our people are all volunteers on a roster, who have a passion for helping others. We are very grateful for all of the work that our wonderful volunteers do. This enables us to keep prices at a reasonable level too.

I’ve seen an item on Facebook/Instagram that I really really want but I can’t get to the shop until tomorrow afternoon. Will you hold it for me? We are very sorry that this is not possible. All of our team are volunteers and we really do not have the bandwidth to do this successfully.

Why are the items in your shops so reasonably priced compared to other Op Shops? Part of our ethos of helping our communities is to make sure that items are able to be purchased by anyone. We don’t want price to be a barrier to someone in genuine need of a basic living item.

I love what you do. How can I volunteer and what’s involved in qualifying as a volunteer? We maintain a list of people who would like to join our volunteer team. Before you can be rostered there is a training requirement. The training is designed to ensure that everyone is kept safe and that policies and procedures around personal safety are understood and are followed.

What are the sorts of things that funds from the Op Shops support in the community? Over the years a variety of things have been supported by our Op Shops. Probably the most visible on-going activity supported by this is our Food Hub. From time to time joint fundraising initiatives are also undertaken in collaboration with other local community groups.
